Thereโ€™s something about pointing the van west that just feels right.

This week, Rich and I are officially on the road again, making our way from Orlando to Yellowstone for what will be our third season working and living in the park. And honestly? It feels like the start of a brand-new chapter, even though weโ€™re returning to a place that already holds so many memories for us.

The drive itself has been a reminder of why we love this lifestyle so much. Long stretches of highway, changing landscapes, roadside coffee stops, weather that canโ€™t seem to make up its mind, and that familiar feeling of adventure building with every mile.

We left Florida with the van packed, the route loosely mapped, and the excitement slowly growing as Yellowstone got closer and closer on the horizon.

And of course, we couldnโ€™t make a cross-country drive without adding at least one unforgettable stop along the way.

๐Ÿœ๏ธ A Grand Canyon Detour

On our way west, we stopped at the Grand Canyon, and wowโ€ฆ it never gets old.

There are some places that make you stop talking for a minute. The Grand Canyon is definitely one of them.

No matter how many photos youโ€™ve seen, no matter how many times people tell you how big it is, standing there in person is something completely different. The colors, the layers, the shadows, the sheer size of it all โ€” itโ€™s the kind of place that makes you feel both incredibly small and incredibly lucky at the same time.

We took it in slowly. We looked out over the rim, watched the light shift across the canyon, and let ourselves just be present for a bit.

It was a perfect reminder that the journey matters just as much as the destination.

Sometimes when youโ€™re headed somewhere exciting, itโ€™s easy to focus only on getting there. But this stop reminded us to slow down, look around, and appreciate the incredible places along the way.

Thatโ€™s one of the best parts of road life. The unexpected stops, the scenic detours, the places you didnโ€™t plan to love as much as you did โ€” they all become part of the story.

๐Ÿฆฌ Heading Back to Yellowstone

Now, weโ€™re continuing on toward Yellowstone, and the closer we get, the more excited we become.

Returning for our third season feels special.

The first season was full of unknowns. We didnโ€™t really know what to expect. We were learning the rhythms of the park, figuring out the work, getting used to the wildlife traffic jams, the changing weather, the early mornings, and the way Yellowstone has a habit of surprising you every single day.

The second season felt a little more familiar. We knew our way around better. We had favorite places, favorite views, favorite routines. We had friends we were excited to see again and new experiences that made the park feel even more like home.

And now, here we are, heading into season three.

Thereโ€™s comfort in returning to a place you know, but thereโ€™s also still so much excitement. Yellowstone never feels exactly the same twice. The weather changes. The wildlife moves differently. The people change. The season unfolds in its own way.

Even when you return to the same place, you donโ€™t return as the exact same person.

Thatโ€™s something weโ€™ve been thinking about a lot on this drive.

๐Ÿงก Old Friends, New Faces

One of the things weโ€™re most looking forward to is seeing old friends again.

Seasonal work has a funny way of creating fast friendships. When you live and work in a place like Yellowstone, surrounded by people who also chose a less traditional path, connections happen quickly.

You share meals (our favorite part of the day), stories, long workdays, wildlife sightings, weather complaints, inside jokes, and those little everyday moments that somehow become the best memories.

Some people you only know for a season, but they leave a lasting impression.

So as we head back, weโ€™re excited to reconnect with familiar faces โ€” the people who made past seasons memorable, the ones weโ€™ve kept in touch with, and the ones we hope to bump into again in the employee dining room, on a trail, or during a quick stop at the general store.

But weโ€™re also excited to meet new people.

Every season brings a fresh mix of personalities, stories, and backgrounds. People come to Yellowstone from all over, each with their own reason for being there. Some are chasing adventure. Some are taking a break from regular life. Some are trying something totally new. Some, like us, are drawn back again and again.

Thatโ€™s part of the magic.

Yellowstone is not just about the landscapes. Itโ€™s about the people you meet while living in the middle of them.

๐ŸŒฒ Why Yellowstone Keeps Calling Us Back

People sometimes ask why we keep going back.

The simple answer? Yellowstone feels like one of those places that gets under your skin in the best possible way.

Itโ€™s the bison walking down the road like they own it. Itโ€™s the steam rising from the ground on cold mornings. Itโ€™s the sound of rushing rivers, the smell of pine trees, and the sight of mountains appearing around a bend.

Itโ€™s the unpredictable weather, the wide-open skies, the quiet moments, and the daily reminder that nature is much bigger than your to-do list.

But itโ€™s also what the park represents for us.

Yellowstone has been a place of growth, adventure, hard work, friendship, creativity, and reflection. It has helped shape this season of our lives in ways we probably didnโ€™t expect when we first said yes to going.

Each year, we arrive with new hopes, new goals, and new lessons weโ€™re still learning.

This year is no different.

Weโ€™re excited to work, explore, create, share stories, and continue building this life one road, one season, and one adventure at a time.

โœจ The Road Ahead

As we continue driving from Orlando to Yellowstone, weโ€™re feeling grateful.

Grateful for the open road.

Grateful for the chance to see places like the Grand Canyon along the way.

Grateful for the friends waiting for us.

Grateful for the new people we havenโ€™t met yet.

And grateful that, for the third season in a row, we get to return to a place that has become such a meaningful part of our story.

Weโ€™ll be sharing more from the road and, of course, plenty once we arrive back in Yellowstone. There will be bison sightings, behind-the-scenes moments, travel stories, lessons from seasonal life, and probably a few surprises too.

For now, weโ€™re just soaking up the journey.

The miles, the views, the coffee stops, the changing landscapes, and that exciting feeling of heading toward something we love.

Yellowstone, weโ€™re on our way.

And we canโ€™t wait to see what this season brings. ๐Ÿฆฌโœจ

With love from the road,
